Top 10 Football Shirts For 2011/12
Now that the season is well under way and that the majority of 2011/12 football shirts have been released for all of the teams, I thought it would be a good opportunity to write an article about my personal top 10 jerseys of the season. I wouldn’t say that too many of these will surprise you, but it will be interesting to see if there is any feedback on this. Feel free to suggest your own top 10 shirts or comment on my choices.
10. 2011-12 Arsenal Away Shirt
![]()
I’ll be honest and say that when I first saw an early image of this shirt, I was extremely disappointed with it. However, after seeing it in person and the team wearing it, the jersey has really grown on me. The mixture of navy and cyan blue really works and the only negative comment I now have is that the Arsenal 125th anniversary badge isn’t embroidered on it. This is something that several Arsenal fans have commented on.
9. 2011-12 Barcelona Away Shirt
Black football shirts are always very popular and when you combine this with a massively popular team like Barcelona, this is sure to be a hit. The design is relatively simple, but it’s also very effective. There has been some negative from fans about the Qatar Foundation sponsor appearing on the front of this shirt and that the Unicef sponsor is on the lower back, but I don’t think this makes the shirt any less appealing.
8. 2011-12 Villarreal Away Shirt
This may be a surprise to most that I have included this in my top 10, but I think it is a very smart football shirt. Villarreal have used a new manufacturer this year in Xtep and the results are good. This is a much better effort than last season’s away shirt by Puma. A nice shade of blue has been used and the yellow collar stands out really well. This picture actually doesn’t do the shirt enough justice.
7. 2011-12 Chelsea Away Shirt
I promise you that this list does not just include away shirts, but there are several away jerseys that have been really impressive this season. I wasn’t a big fan of any of Chelsea’s shirts last season, but they have done a good job with this one. It’s another black shirt that will appeal to most fans and the addition of the light blue squares on the chest really adds to the overall design.
6. 2011-12 Bayern Munich Home Shirt
This Bayern Munich home shirt appealed to me instantly and I was pleasantly surprised with how much different it was to other Bayern Munich home jerseys. A dark shade of red has been used this season with gold detail on the main body and gold Adidas stripes down the sleeves. This is definitely one of the nicest shirts they have released.
5. 2011-12 Inter Milan Away Shirt
Like the majority of Inter Milan away shirts, this is mostly white. But I definitely think this is different enough to make it stand out from the others and I personally think it’s better than the blue serpent design from last season. The black fold collar and diagonal blue and black stripes make this a very classy jersey.
4. 2011-12 AC Milan Home Shirt
AC Milan have gone with narrower vertical black and red stripes this season and I think this makes it a refreshing change that has been needed. They are obviously not going to stray too far from tradition, but this is an excellent design. The white round collar and white sleeve hems add to the overall design too.
3. 2011-12 Lazio Home Shirt
I have really disliked the last few Lazio home shirts, mostly because the shade of blue that has been used looks very faded and isn’t very appealing. This season, however, has made a change to a more sky blue colour which is a vast improvement. The white v-neck collar and sleeve hems finish the jersey off really well.
2. 2011-12 Real Madrid Third Shirt
This is the shirt that Real Madrid will be wearing in the Champions League this season and for me, it’s a fantastic shirt. The side have actually worn red in the 1970s before and I will admit that it’s unusual to see them wearing the colour, considering their main Madrid rivals also wear red. It also comes with the Champions League patches, which is a bonus.
1. 2011-12 Lyon Home Shirt
This is my favourite football shirt for the season. Lyon usually have smart home shirts, but this year has exceeded any recent jerseys they have released. The main change this year is the addition of the red and blue bar across the chest, which helps to enhance the design a lot. When you add in the red and blue detail on the collar and sleeve hems, this all stands out really well on a white jersey.
All of these 2011/12 soccer jerseys are available to buy now. This is my own personal list of favourite football shirts for this season and I would really appreciate any feedback on the comments and decisions made here, along with your own favourite shirts for this particular season. These can also include international football shirts too.

Earlier in the week, we revealed another leaked image of the new Real Madrid home shirt 2011-12, which has had a lot of people talking. There is now an image of the new Real Madrid 2011-12 away shirt that has leaked. This is not confirmed, but it looks as though both shirts could now be genuine.

Several possible images of the new Real Madrid shirt have been leaked in the last few weeks and we now have a new image that has appeared across many websites today, which means there is a chance this could be the real deal. As you can see from this image, this supposed new Real Madrid 2011-12 home soccer jersey is white and has a slightly retro feel to it. It is mostly white, which is to be expected from a Real Madrid home shirt. A prototype image of the new Juventus shirt has just been released and this is the new Juventus home football shirt 2011-12. Juventus are one of the top Italian Serie A sides, although they have been struggling by their standards over the past couple of seasons. This prototype of the new shirt has not been confirmed as official, but it will be manufactured by Nike.
The Juventus 2011-12 home jersey has red and white vertical stripes, which is traditional for a Juventus home shirt, but these stripes are unusual. It has been rumoured that this design will also be used for the new Barcelona home shirt next season.
